I keep wondering if a Prime Minister John Major in England would have gone to Her Majesty the Queen to ask for a mulligan because he had screwed up so bad that the opposition was going to vote non-confidence in the first three weeks of a new minority parliament. Mr. Harper has disgraced himself to put the Governor General of Canada in this bad position. I am not really a fan of this coalition and I did not have a problem with the conservative minority government. However I have a very big problem with the behaviour of our Prime Minister. He should have left the attacks to his other members of parliament and stayed above the fray.
I believe we are going to embark on a very dark time in Canadian politics much similar to the Carl Rove style red state, blue state politics of the United States. The Conservatives will scorch eastern Canada and vilify the citizens of Quebec, labeling the people who deal their members of Parliament disloyal and traitorous. This is a very dangerous strategy and this could spin out of control.
